About the size of a large canine, these reptiles are long in body, long in snout, and long in tail. Their hides are often ruddy brown to bright red with flecks of green, blue, and gold. Like many large lizards, fire drakes have poor vision (though they can spot movement very easily), but have a heightened sense of smell. Fire drakes, as they mature, possess the ability to breath small amounts of magically enhanced flame. Lesser Fire Drakes are considered giant animals (though they possess a rudimentary magical ability).

Ethos: animal-mind, predatory, instinctual survival, slow until provoked
Habitat: common to desert areas (around rocks, brush), less common in temperate areas (rocky hills, mountains), prefers caves close to sources of warmth (sun, hot spring, lava flow)
Toughness: like most "giant" animals, fire drakes can be hardy and tough possessing a thick, scaly hide and resistant constitution.
