Shadows (also called Lesser Shades or Lesser Spirits) are ethereal creatures, beings of ghostly thought and chilling presence. Shadows often inhabit places of magic or misticism and places of death. They are remnants of the living long since decayed and gone. These lesser spirits shy away from sunlight often keeping to areas of shade and darkness. They are often described as apparitions, roughly humanoid, but tattered like aged cloth. They float moving with an unnatural grace and can pass through solid matter or disappear from view entirely.
Animal Lore 6
Toughness: Shadows are generally not physically strong (given they are mostly ethereal). They generally cannot manipulate the material world and cannot be touched or grabbed or trapped. Shadows possess 4 to 12 hit points.
Special Abilities: Shadows generally cannot be harmed by normal weapons. Like most spirits and undead, shadows are not affected by poison, gas, or other physical attacks that normally affect living targets.
Weapons: The touch of a shadow is often described as a deep chill or a numbing pain. Shadows often inflict Light damage.
Life Sense: like other undead, shadows do not need to see to target creatures; they sense the living things around them; Feign Death may be used to avoid their life sense
Weaknesses: lesser Turn Undead invocations will cause shadows to flee, sometimes Turn Undead can cause minute damage, greater Turn Undead invocations can destroy shadows completely. Shadows may also be affected by bright light.
Animal Lore 8
Special Abilities: Some shadows possess the ability to cause paralysis, fear, slumber, and even madness.
Weaknesses: shadows are often vulnerable to fire. Shadows are often bound to a particular area and cannot range far from their particular "haunts."
