Across the Realm, the people of the Realm are celebrating the First Day of Highspring. It is a day for fun, games, frivolity, cheer, jokes, hijinks, and laughter. It is called Fool's Day or Children's Day or Player's Day.

It is a day to wear bright colored clothing; it is a day to mismatch socks and weave ribbons in hair. It is a day of asking riddles and a day of funny, rhyming poem. It is a day of sweets and small presents, particularly for children. It is also a day of performances, of wishing wells, and of giving a coin to a Player for good luck.

Player's Day inaugurates the yearly Crown Games where men and women from across the Realm compete in athleticism, in artistry, and in combat. The Crown Games are held every year in Sarhall and those who gain top prizes are honored by the Crown.

Athletic competitions include sprints, races, marathons, feats of strength and constitution and prowess, skill at games, equestrian events, and displays of physique. Artistic competitions include events in poetry, storytelling, oratory, playwriting, song, dance, sculpture, painting, and fine crafts. Combative competitions include dueling, small combat skirmishes, archery, jousting, and magical duels.

Prizes include Crown, medals, lavish gifts, horses, titles, royal sponsorship, and even land.
