Upon returning to the Inn of the Blue Feather, Vistariil is strangely withdrawn. He seems to have something on his mind, and he is avoiding several members of the Wardens of the Dawn. He seems torn between wanting to leave, and feeling an obligation to stay.

Clovis has spent the evening in the Blue Feather chatting easily with the Loremistress, Abeyal. Sharing a meal and a handful of hours, the two are engaged in a lively and animated conversation, though from those who overhear close by, Clovis's storytelling ability has improved none. Abeyal seems generally interested, or at least politely tolerant to hear Clovis recount some of the tales of the Wardens since she began traveling with them.
Clovis's eyes occasionally flicker to the doors and windows of the tavern, as the two talk, and pass over Vistariil more than once. After a time, Abeyal stands, pressing her fists into her the small of her back as she stretches, and inclines her head in the direction of the stairs leading to the inn's rooms. Clovis nods and rises, tipping her tankard in goodnight wishes. She winds her way through the crowd of patrons to the bar and sets the tankard on the rail. Turning back, her eyes meet Vistarill's. She opens her mouth, the light in her eyes an indication she was about to say something playfully obnoxious, but she stops, her features softening. "Look, it's none of my business, and it's clear you want to be left alone...but if you change your mind and want a neutral ear, I'm going out for a bit of fresh air." -C ...and look, the bath goes all wooshy. One's in danger of getting bubbles up one's whoopsie-daisy.

*Igraine sits in a corner near the fire scribling down notes in her books and working on some scrolls. She would smile up at any who get close to her seemingly oblivious that there is a problem at all.*

Vistariil meets the friendly gaze of Clovis, but seems unable to follow her outside. Conflicting emotions cross his face and he half rises, but sits back down with a sigh. He takes a long pull at his ale.
After sitting by himself, sadly drinking alone all night, Vistariil dozes off in the common room. The next morning, he goes out into the marketplace of Darkwell and purchases some old books. He is seen the following night back in the common room, but this time he is drinking coffee and reading one of his new books. The title on its spine is "The Compleat Idiot's Guide to the Arche." On the table in front of him is "Magic Lore For Dummies." He is reading slowly, and seems to be having difficulty... but also seems determined. He still avoids conversation, though. {OOC: Going to develop the skill 'Magic Lore.' Seems like Darkwell would be a good place to learn} |

Sir Barrett is not often seen in the common room of the Inn, but when he is, he makes an effort to acknowledge each of the party in the room. He's usually carrying a work of lore or history under his arm as he does so. Every few days he will order a bottle of Eldun Red be brought to his room. If someone is avoiding him, he will probably not notice it the first days.

((the second night))
*Igraine can be found again in her usual corner with her books and scrolls spread out in front of her. After a few hours she rubs her eyes. Pushing the book she was reading away from her she leans back and stretches her back. Her face contorts for a moment in obvious discomfort before she leans forward again. She takes few moments to take in her surroundings as she puts her things away. Igraine will smile at any person that may meet her gaze. Her eyes settle on Vistariil and the obvious trouble he is having with the book in front of him. She places her sachel over her shoulder and walks over to him.* "Hello Vistariil. May I be of any assistance to your studies?" *Her gaze rests on the content of the pages. Taking in their meaning, she then turns her attention to his face.* ~Truth~Honor~Compassion~

"Uh......thanks. I think I am getting the hang of it, though. Still, it is slower going than Tannan Aki-o. At least for me it is." He seems uncomfortable with her presence, then hastily closes the book. "I was going to take a break anyway."
He gets up and starts to leave the common room. |

"Vistariil, if I may have a moment of your time?"

"Uh, sure....." Looks around for an easy escape, thinks better of it. Follows Lucien to the corner.

"I need your help with something. Will you allow me to cast a spell on you? I swear that it will not harm you. I merely need to study your response. I can pay you for your time if it is needed."

Looks hastily at his new books, thinks about checking them for the answer... His features cloud momentarily, then clear. He has no reason not to trust Lucien. "As you wish, Lucien, and no payment is needed between friends."

"Excellent, thank you Vistariil"
Lucien brings out his spell book and flips through the pages for a few moments. Finding the spell he is looking for he prepares himself to cast. "Just relax. This will only take a moment." Lucien begins to trace lines in the air and recite the words to the spell in a language you do not understand. "I, Lucien, ease thy troubled mind," says Lucien as he lightly touches Vistariil's forehead. "How do you feel?" |

Re: After Event 37 | ||

{OOC: Does this spell do anything other than negate mind magic? I mean, will it ease a genuinely troubled mind?}
{Mind Balm is really to be used on the minds of creatures affected by mental magics. But, the magic can also be used to heal or ease "troubled" minds. Depending on the severity of the mental or psychic trouble, the effect of a Mind Balm will vary. If you figure that Vistariil is simply upset, unhappy, maybe a little depressed or distressed (nothing serious in other words), the Mind Balm will probably bring some calm, some relaxation, and clarity. For more serious issues, the spell can be a useful aid toward "curing" the mental problem.} |

"Would you care to share your troubles with me? Is there any way in which I can be of assistance? I noticed you studying magic lore texts. I am versed in the field. Do you have a question I could help answer, perhaps?"

"I am just trying to find my place amongst the Wardens. And I need to make sure that certain....errors in judgement...arent made again. I thank you for your concern. I am certain that I will have technical questions about my reading."

As Sir Barrett sits at the table...
|
He claps Vistariil on the shoulder in the way of a warrior, with a smile on his face.
"Vistariil, when were you going to tell me you were the same man who saved my father's men at the Battle of Vistariil's Gambit? I knew your name sounded familiar to me, but my head has been stuck in ancient texts for far too long to remember. I apologize for my lack of tact and forgetful mind. I will have to write my father and tell him you travel with us. This is sure to be a good sign." He turns to Lucien and says: "Surely you have heard the tale of our humble companion?" |

Re: As Sir Barrett sits at the table...

"Sir Barrett, I sought you out on the advice of your father. He told me that the Wardens of the Dawn would be a good company in which to... atone for certain failings in my life. I dont think that I have done a very good job of this." Vistariil looks both sad and uncomfortable saying this.
"Please excuse me." He stands to leave the table. |

Re: As Sir Barrett sits at the table...

"Well, Sir Barrett....." His voice trails off. He is obviously uncomfortable. "The truth is....." He looks around. "The truth is, well, I stabbed you over and over again when you were held by magic. Part of it was wanting to protect Igraine, but part of it was fear that you would start trying to kill me again.
"You see, I dont have much experience with the Arche, with magic in general, and because of that, not much trust in it. But I am trying to learn. "I havent found my place amongst the Wardens yet. I have not found my niche. But I hope to. And I hope to learn from past mistakes. I am sorry for what I did, Sir Barrett." |

"Is that what's been bothering you? Hahaha, don't worry about it. These things are, sadly enough, familiar to us. We are masters of our spirits, but the Path of Night often turns the body against it's master. Protect yourself as best you can, and feel no remorse for keeping yourself safe. No sense in having to heal two people when healing one will suffice. I bear you no ill will. Indeed, I apologize for not being able to resist the insanity."
