Greetings travellers! I am Gryffain Synclair, aspiring merchant from Lacia. It is my pleasure to make your acquaintance. As a Favored of the SIlver Guild, I would like to humbly extend an offer for my services to my fellow companions. Hopefully, I will soon advance to the rank of Apprentice Trader within the guild and be able to supply the party with various items of interest from around the realm.
If there is any way that I can be of service please do not hesitate to ask.
Your Servant,
Gryffain Synclair

OOC:
Gryffain Synclair was born to Gerald and Lydia Synclair on the 29th of Firstspring, 2284 CE. Gryffain is the third, and final, child in the family. His elder brother and sister, Reginald and Leanne, are 10 and 7 years older. Gryffain was an unexpected gift to his mother and father who had only planned on having two children. Nevertheless, Gryffain was loved and cared for deeply by his family. Unfortunately, Reginald was already in line to inherit his fathers business at the customhouse and Leanne was a beauty who was sure to prosper by marriage, leaving no place for Gryffain to really fit in.
Without any real familial duties, Gryffain misspent his youth on the docks in Princia, Lacia watching the longshoremen work the merchant vessels coming off of Lake Medyri. At the age of 10 he was hired on as a runner for the Princia Privateers merchant company. He ran messages and stock tallies from the Privateers main warehouse down to the docks and back. At this young age, Gryffain learned some of the rules of the streets, who to avoid, who would be helpful, and so on. He also learned the value of money as he ran through the poorer districts in town and saw the fate of those bereft of providence.
Once Gryffain reached the age of 12 he was apprenticed to the chief financier of the Privateers. Under his tutelage Gryffain learned the details of accounting practices and stock-holdings.
At 15 Gryffain was stationed aboard Maiden Voyage as the ships account boy. He kept track of current stocks aboard ship and noted what stock was to be delivered at each port of call. Maiden Voyage was a small trading vessel that ferried trade items across Lake Medyri from Asta and Taus to Princia for later shipment upriver to Regais. Gryffains years at sea were both educational as well as fascinating. Meeting and conducting trade with different countries was amazing. It was interesting to note the differences in peoples customs even when merely separated by a simple lake. Aborad ship, Gryffain learned how to drink and boast like a sailor, much to his mothers chagrin.
Once his apprenticeship aboard Maiden Voyage was complete Gryffain left Princia Privateers to work in my fathers customhouse. Here he learned about the paperwork required for interprovince trade and the commerce taxation laws of Lacia as well as other bordering provinces. Paperwork never intrigued Gryffains adept mind, though, and he quickly bored of the work.
Gryffain went in search of a true calling and stumbled into the apprenticeship of a local Magician. The Mage, Choros, had initially hired Gryffain to keep his books and accounts but quickly learned that Gryffains shrewd mind was adept enough to weave magic. Choros took Gryffain as an apprentice and taught him the basics of Earth magic. The magic kept Gryffains attention for quite some time since it was something completely new to him. Nobody in Gryffains family had ever been gifted in the magical arts before. Choros was proud of his student as his skills grew enough to be able to master the first rank of Earth spells taught to students in the Academy.
Gryffain deeply wished to share his gift of magic with others and pestered Choros to teach him how he might gift others with his magic. Choros began to teach Gryffain the painstaking art of scroll and potion making. Gryffain immediately picked up on the financial ramifications of being able to sell his Art as a commodity. Choros, however, had no such interest in becoming a merchant of any sort and dismissed Gryffain from his apprenticeship to pursue his dreams of traveling from province to province learning of the people and providing them with exotic commodities and services.
Gryffain petitioned to join the Silver Guild and, with his fathers recommendation, was awarded the rank of Favored in the Guild. He now embarks on his adventure with a mostly empty pocket but a head full of dreams and ambitions.
If there is any way that I can be of service please do not hesitate to ask.
