Sebastian Val`tresta
Sebastian was born to Ruecrest Val`tresta, Lord Governor of Ottath, and his wife Magradh Rexton Val'tresta. Ruecrest's first marriage ended in tragedy when his wife, Ariduce Caamwen Val'tresta, died during childbirth with their third daughter, Rivyn. Ruecrest was devastated. The love of his life was gone and he had no male heir to the throne. After several years of mourning, Ruecrest's advisors persuaded him to remarry and produce a male heir. Ruecrest had no passion left and married Magradh Rexton simply out of convenience. The daughter of a wealthy and powerful man, with suspected ties to the underworld, Magradh didn't marry for love either. Magradh had dreamed of gaining position in the world by the joining the ranks of nobility. She didn't want to be whispered about any longer and she hoped this marriage would disassociate her from her father. The marriage didn't set well with much of the populace. Grumblings of the throne being ran by the underworld ran through the city. Magradh wasn't receiving the adoration she had yearned for and knew that she never would. Magradh knew she had to secure her position and the only way to do that was to bear a male heir. Magradh become pregnant within the month and gave birth to a male heir, Sebastian. Sebastian lived a tough childhood. An overbearing mother, disdain from his father, and the mumblings of the public contributed to him being very withdrawn. As Sebastian grew to adulthood, much of his life was spent on the seedier side of life. He spent his time gambling, drinking, and wooing women. Ruecrest grew more and more disappointed in Sebastian. Eventually, Ruecrest and his advisors decided it would be better for Ottath if Sebastian were never to rule. Ruecrest decreed that his eldest daughter, Caamwen, would take the throne. About a year later, the youngest daughter, Rivyn, died in a horse riding accident. The death was a horrible blow to Ruecrest. He spent a great deal of time in mourning. Recently, some mysterious daggers had been found in Lake Medyri and had been brought to Ottath. Ruecrest had decided to send the daggers to the Academy to study them. He decided to send Sebastian along with the daggers. That brings us to today...
