Character: Gruen
Character History
I am called by Gruen. This life began in the year 2378 CE, on the seventh day of Wintersend, in Aerth, Atana. Alum, my mother and Halkeer, my father, both Watchers of the Circle, wished for more children but received only me. Neither parent shared my sibling deficit and I grew up surrounded by a half dozen aunts and seven uncles. My parents often left me with this extended caregroup when they ventured to the wilderness of Taus for gatherings known only to The Circle. When on journey, I missed their contemplative, devoted manners and lessons of natures wisdom. They often informed me, and still do, that they find me precious and an important gift to their existence. They are proud of all that I portray, including an unblemished reflection of their strong virtues.
As years passed in the town of Aerth with parents drifting in and out of view, few children my age seemed available for play. Companionship would have disturbed my desires to pursue sole recreation, so the absence of youth enriched rather than made melancholy my personal reflections.
Solitary tranquility would not find me for long, however. From my earliest of days I recall the yawning sea threatening me. My home was situated thankfully far from the crashing waters, but with every dawn I felt the neverstill Archaean Sea pulse with hallowed tension. I have never experienced a direct succumbing to the waters. Yet I know that such a day will not be far off in my future. Each time I venture approach to the Sea or even a dark lake, the dark calls chill my innermost light.
At age eleven, the family tradition shepherded me to the Academy of Aerth to engage study in Mind and Animal magics. Delving into assignments energized me with each new learning. The admirable mages demonstrated a keen patience coupled with encouraging sternness. Fond memories included my selection as a protg of a widely respected and powerful mage. Less fond recollections include a visit from Academy at Sagan students.
The Academy taught me the way of the woods including all manner of essential forest secrets. Along the way I also picked up proficiency with a dagger and short sword, but never ventured to the heavier armors and weaponry. My slight frame and milder demeanor could never warrant such burdens.
Years of study, dedication to Aurasan, and emerging knowledge of the Arcane became rewarded with an invitation to the Watchers of the Circle. I accepted such post with a solemn understanding of the sacred responsibilities. My life was meant from inception to support Aurasan and the natural balance.
As of this time in life, I have not traveled much from Aerth. An aunt and uncle have moved to the town of Shay in the Realm of Reiel. They indicated a need to support an undertrodden group, and I may wish to visit them there one day. Shay borders a fulminating deep lake but a mere visit should harm me not.
