First off, lets look at how much a feat of will costs. If you are RO-Arms we are looking at 10 XP. If you are RO-Skill or Knowledge 5 XP.
Now lets look at how much goes into obtaining the skill detect invisibility. Supposing that the individual was of RO-Knowledge it would cost them 18 XP to get to Mind 3. Furthermore, Detect Invisibility is a lost spell so that is going to make it even more difficult. Probably going to include a good deal of crown, or a lot of XP dumped into a contact.
Even then when you have the spell you have to maintain a level of concentration on detecting it. I am not sure what other people see as concentration but, if I was swinging a sword or moving to attack in any way I am pretty sure my PC would lose concentration on a spell like this. Yet, despite this with a blink of the eye and a moment of will it cripples the spell or items effectiveness completely?
I do not think that an ability that anyone can get for a max of 5-10 xp should be able to do this. It really does not add up to me. especially since the invisibility by all rights is something that effects the individual using the power, not the person trying to overcome it. The fact that the invisibity spell, and the detect invisibity spell are both lost really gets me about this though. That it would take so much to be able to obtain these abilities, yet so little to dispel it.
