{Here is the write-up for the Psychometry spell that was "released" to Academy mages last year. The formula is considered lost / organization-only. However, player should make note of its existence. The spell will most likely become part of the Archaea canon at a later date.}
Psychometry* / 1
range : touch
area : one item
duration : instant
material : none
incantation : 15 words
invocation :
I, <casters name>, touch this items past, present, and future!
description :
Studies made by the Academy into the prophetic abilities of the Curi have yielded this simple yet useful spell. Psychometry empowers the caster to touch any object and glean a single piece of information about the objects past, present, future, or nature. The caster must touch or hold the object and concentrate upon what information is to be learned before invocation. For example, the mage finds a ring on the street and uses psychometry to glean the rings owner. Psychometry grants the mage an instantaneous vision, thought, or sensation about the subject in mind. The information gained is often fragmented and vague but will pertain to the intentions of the caster. For example, the mage from above simply receives a vision of a man in a wide-brimmed hat.
A Curi using this spell in conjunction with his or her innate Curi Sense may glean additional information about the object touched.
This spell requires the presence of an Elder.
